Caring for Widows
Throughout Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria, many widows face significant financial hardship and have little support beyond their immediate families. For many, even basic necessities are difficult to obtain.
One of the most meaningful gifts we provide is a wrapper—a traditional piece of fabric that serves as a skirt and is an important part of a woman's clothing and cultural identity. More than just a garment, a wrapper represents dignity, honor, and respect. For many widows, receiving a new wrapper is a deeply cherished blessing that reminds them they are valued and not forgotten.
At the Gloria and Rosie Charity Foundation, we are committed to caring for widows because Scripture calls us to do so. In 1 Timothy 5:3–8, believers are instructed to honor and care for widows, ensuring they receive the support and compassion they deserve. We are humbled to put this biblical principle into action by providing practical assistance and sharing God's love through acts of kindness.
Each time we place a new wrapper into the hands of a widow, we witness smiles, tears of joy, and hearts filled with gratitude. Those moments remind us that even the simplest gift can restore hope and reaffirm a person's worth.
We believe that when we honor widows with love, compassion, and practical support, we are not only blessing their lives—we are honoring God by living out His Word.
"Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress..." — James 1:27
